ALTHOUGH APART FROM THE LEGENDARY STORIES WHICH RAISE CURIOSITY; HISTORY AND AUTHENTICATED INFORMATION OF UNAKOTI VERIFY THAT THE CONSTRUCTION OF THESE SCULPTURES AND IDOLS MIGHT BE CREATED BETWEEN EIGHT AND NINE CENTURY OR BEFORE, WHICH WAS ORIGINALLY KNOWN AS THE SHAIVA PILGRIMAGE DESTINATION. SO THERE HAVE A NUMBER OF SHIVA IDOLS. THE RAGHUNANDAN HILLS SIDES AND STONE HAD BEEN CARVED AND GIVE THE FORM OF DIFFERENT HINDU GODS AND GODDESS IDOLS WHICH ARE LOCATED AT A BEAUTIFULLY LANDSCAPED FOREST AREA WITH GREEN VEGETATION ALL AROUND. THE STATUE OF UNAKOTISWAR/KALBHOIRABH SHIVA IS 30 FEET TALL INCLUDING A 10 FEET CROWN ON THE HEAD OF LORD SHIVA. ONE SIDE OF THE CROWN HAS A SCULPTURE OF GODDESS DURGA STANDING ON A LION AND GODDESS GANGA IS ON THE OTHER SIDE. IN ADDITION TO THIS HUGE STATUE OF UNAKOTISWAR, THERE HAVE MANY SCULPTURES OF OTHERS GODS AND GODDESS LIKE KALBHAIRAVA, CHANDRASHEKHAR SHIVA, KAMDEV WITH ARROWS & BOW, TRIMURTI (BRAHMA, VISHNU, MAHESHWAR ALL-TOGETHER), NRISINGHA, RADHA-KRISHNA, HANUMAN, SARASWATI, UMA-MAHESHWAR, SHANI, NANDI, ETC. SOME OTHER IMPORTANT SCULPTURES AT UNAKOTI ARE A GIGANTIC GANESH AND A QUADRATURE VISHNU IDOL. LARGE STATUES ENGRAVED ON THE STONE ARE REALLY ASTONISHING. THE RICH HERITAGE OF TRIPURA VIVIDLY REFLECTS IN ITS TEMPLES LIKE KAMLASAGAR KALI. BESIDES BEING A KNOWN TEMPLE, KAMALASAGAR KALI TEMPLE ALSO ATTRACTS TOURISTS BECAUSE OF ITS NATURAL BEAUTY. IT IS ALSO KNOW AS KASBA KALI BARI TEMPLE. IT IS LOCATED ON A HILLOCK OVERLOOKING A BEAUTIFUL LAKE NAMED KAMALA SAGAR. THE LAKE AT THE BORDER OF BANGLADESH OFFERS WONDERFUL VIEWS OF ITS SURROUNDINGS AND IS OFTEN FLOCKED BY THE LOCAL PEOPLE FOR PICNIC. THE KAMALASAGAR KALI TEMPLE HOUSES AN IMAGE OF THE GODDESS THAT LOOKS LIKE THAT OF DASABHUJA DURGA OR MAHISHASURMARDINI. THE IMAGE IS MADE OF SANDSTONE WHICH IS WORSHIPPED AS MA KALI. THERE IS A SHIVLANGAM PRESENT AT THE FEET OF THE IMAGE, GIVING THE TEMPLE ITS NAME KALIBARI. DEVOTEES FLOCK TO THIS TEMPLE IN LARGE NUMBERS ESPECIALLY DURING FESTIVALS. THE TEMPLE WAS BUILT IN THE 17TH CENTURY.

• TRIPURA SUNDARI TEMPLE- UDAIPUR IS DOTTED WITH TEMPLES THE MOST FAMOUS OF WHICH IS THE TRIPURA SUNDARI TEMPLE, WHICH IS ONE OF THE 51 SHAKTI PEETHAS. THE TEMPLE WAS CONSTRUCTED BY MAHARAJA DHANYA MANIKYA DEBBARMA IN 1501. THERE IS A BIG LAKE BESIDE THE TEMPLE KNOWN AS KALYAN SAGAR. BHUBANESHWARI TEMPLE IS ANOTHER FAMOUS TEMPLE HERE. GUNABATI TEMPLE, JAGANNATH TEMPLE, MAHADEV TEMPLE ARE OTHER FAMOUS TEMPLES.
